    Program Details, Schedule, and More!

The Working Actor Masterclass is a four-day immersion designed to take you from “hoping it all clicks” to “I know exactly how to approach the script, the camera, and my career.” We move quickly but intentionally, blending technique, rehearsal, and on-camera practice so that every session builds toward something real. Whether you’re newer to the craft or seasoned and refining your process, this weekend gives you a clear, repeatable roadmap for how to prepare, rehearse, and perform. One you can take with you into every audition, callback, class, and set.

Across the weekend, you’ll train the way working actors actually train: embodied, specific, collaborative, and grounded in the story. You’ll strengthen your voice and movement work so you can stay present under pressure, deepen your listening and partner connection, and learn how to adjust to the lens with precision. Our script analysis process ensures you’re making bold, playable choices quickly instead of drowning in overthinking, and every rehearsal block is structured to help you explore, refine, and trust your instincts. Add in two guest instructors and genre-specific sessions, and you’re getting a full spectrum toolkit of practical skills.

Everything leads to filming day. A professional-style set where you’ll run your scene with multiple takes, playback, adjustments, and support every step of the way.

The Goal of the Working Actor Masterclass

The Working Actor Masterclass exists to bridge the gap between training and working.

This is not a retreat, a vibe-based intensive, or a one-off inspirational experience. It is a rigorous, collaborative training environment designed to simulate the realities of professional work—tight timelines, limited rehearsal, creative pressure, and the demand to deliver grounded, specific performances on camera.

By the end of the masterclass, actors don’t just walk away with filmed scenes for their reel. They leave with:

    • A clear rehearsal system they can replicate on their own
    • Stronger listening and partner work skills
    • A deeper relationship to breath, pressure, and impulse
    • Greater confidence working on set
    • Language for their process that actually makes sense

Coach Darius believes that dreams become sustainable careers only when they’re paired with structure, intention, and deadlines. This masterclass is built to give actors exactly that—tools they can return to again and again, long after the cameras stop rolling.

    Coach Darius

Coach Darius (Darius A. Journigan) is a Detroit-born, NYC-based actor, director, and acting coach whose work lives at the intersection of craft, clarity, and real-world application. He is a company member of The Family Repertory Company, a seasoned actor and director, and a teaching artist who has worked with actors, students, and professionals across the country and internationally.

As a performer, Darius has appeared in off-Broadway productions, national and regional tours, international festivals, immersive theatre, film, and new work development. His credits include performing in Greece at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, starring in feature films available on Amazon Prime and Tubi, and touring with Shakespeare & Company’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream across the Northeast. As a director and educator, he has taught and led programs for youth, pre-professional, and professional actors, with a particular focus on devised theatre and on-camera performance.

But coaching, for Darius, is not about collecting techniques. It’s about building a system actors can actually use.

    His Approach to Actor Training

Coach Darius’s training is breath-led, pressure-based, and rooted in presence. His work helps actors develop the ability to notice when something changes (in themselves, in their partner, or in the scene) and respond truthfully before they have time to plan, polish, or perform.

Rather than teaching acting as a series of tricks or emotional shortcuts, his approach emphasizes:

    • Breath first — grounding the actor in the body and nervous system
    • Objective clarity — knowing what you want and why it matters now
    • Pressure shifts — identifying where stakes change and how that affects behavior
    • Listening as a physical event — responding with the whole body, not just the mind
    • Tactics as response — action emerging from what’s actually happening, not pre-set choices

This work draws from classical acting traditions, contemporary on-camera technique, and research from psychology and neuroscience—especially around stress, attention, and decision-making. The goal is not heightened emotion for its own sake, but truth under pressure.

Actors training with Darius learn how to:

    • Rehearse efficiently and independently
    • Adjust in real time with a partner
    • Stay present under time constraints and high stakes
    • Build performances that hold up on camera
    • Walk into auditions and sets with a clear, repeatable process

At its core, his work is about helping actors trust themselves, trust their preparation, and meet the moment as it unfolds—truthfully, courageously, and without apology.
